BIS & ISI Standards

All GunGaN power strips carry mandatory BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification under IS 302-2-201 for cord extension sets. This is required by Indian law for every extension cord sold in India.

What is BIS Certification?

The Bureau of Indian Standards is India's national standards body. BIS certification (indicated by the ISI mark on the product) means the product has been independently tested and verified to meet mandatory safety and performance standards.

What Does BIS Certification Test?

  • Electrical insulation and leakage current limits
  • Temperature rise under maximum rated load
  • Mechanical strength and socket retention force
  • Cord and cable integrity under pull and flex tests
  • Flame retardancy of the housing material
  • Socket contact force and dimensional tolerances
  • Safety shutter function and child-protection effectiveness

Why Does It Matter to You?

Uncertified extension cords are a leading cause of electrical fires in Indian homes. Counterfeit products often use undersized wiring, flammable plastics, and weak socket contacts that overheat under normal loads.

The ISI mark on your GunGaN product tells you it has been tested by an accredited lab to prevent exactly these failures.

Look for the ISI Mark

Every genuine GunGaN product carries the ISI mark and a licence number issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards.
